As part of the Rojava Revolution there has been an attempt to build an communal economy based on meeting people’s needs through creating and furthering co-operatives. This booklet looks at that experience, but it also highlights how co-operatives can be used as educational tools to build a sense of collective, recreate a sense of belonging and address the individualism of capitalism. In other words, they can be learning and educational tools that prepare us for a socialist society and begin to heal us collectively from the damage done by capitalism
